Geemarc CL600 Clearsound Emergency Response Telephone - How does it work:

The CL600 first needs the emergency telephone numbers to be stored in its memory followed by a personal recording of the outgoing SOS message.

When the user presses the button on any one of the remote transmitters, the CL600 telephone starts dialling out in sequence the emergency telephone numbers stored in its memory (max 6 numbers) and the pre-recorded SOS message set on the Geemarc CL600 telephone is then played when the emergency call is answered. The CL600 will stop dialling out only when it receives confirmation that a human has answered the emergency call (i.e. the person on the other end has to press the number 1 on their keypad to confirm receipt of the message). The CL600 therefore detects any unwanted answers from answering machines and continues the dialling sequence.

On confirmation from a human response, the CL600 then automatically enters into speakerphone mode so there is no need for the emergency caller to try and reach for the handset. The person who answers the emergency call hears the SOS message and is aware of the emergency, they can then try and talk to the person using the phone through the telephone loudspeaker. This feature can also be reversed, the CL600 can be accessed remotely if needed, using a preset personal code. Upon receipt of the call the CL600 goes into hands free mode. The CL600 has an extremely sensitive microphone and a very loud speakerphone.

The emergency response feature also works in the event of a power cut through the battery back up option (batteries not supplied). The 6 emergency numbers stored in the CL600 are backed by a Flash memory to prevent loss of the numbers.

Q: What happens in the event an answering machine picks up the call?
A: The CL600 will detect this and continue to dial the next number in sequence.

Q: What happens if the number dialled is engaged?
A: The CL600 will carry on to the next number in sequence.

Q: What happens if no one answers the call?
A: The CL600 will ring for 8 times and if no human response is received, it will move on and dial the next number in the sequence.

Q: What happens if all the dialled numbers are either engaged, not answered or an answering machine picks up the call?
A: The CL600 will dial all 6 numbers in sequence in a cycle of 3 turns.

Q: Can the sequence of emergency numbers be dialled from the phone itself?
A: Yes, the emergency call can be started by pressing the red button on the bottom right of the CL600.

Q: What happens if I am unable to hang up after the called party has responded to my call?
A: As soon as the called up party hangs up the phone at their end, the CL600's electronics sense that the call has been terminated and it hangs up automatically, thereby clearing the line for both the caller and the receiver to re-use their telephone line to make further calls if needed. (This is unlike your ordinary phone which keeps the line engaged until the caller hangs up.)

Q: Can a relative or a care provider call in and check up remotely?
A: The CL600 features auto answer. When the caller enters a four digit pin code (one time user set up on the CL600 phone), the phone goes into automatic two way speaker mode, without the receiver having to be lifted, to enable the relative or care provider to engage in a hands free conversation. Ideal in an emergency situation where the called party is unable to lift the receiver to answer the call!

Q: What happens if I need an extra transmitter or need to replace a lost one?
A: Ring the M2Cshop helpline on 0208 829 9130.

Q: How long do the batteries last in the transmitters?
A: The batteries in theory should last a very long time as the transmitters are only used in emergencies, but we do recommend that they are changed every 3 years.

Q: How can I check that the remote transmitters are working?
A: The CL600 has a test mode to check the workings of the remote transmitters and can be tested at any time.

Q: What is the working distance of the transmitter to the phone?
A: The actual distance depends on many things, the structure of the building, thickness of walls, obstructions like steel baths, etc. Officially the manufacturers quote a distance of 30m indoors, but in some trials we have seen it work upto 120m!

Q: I run a nursing home and wish to install a CL600 in different rooms. Will the remote transmitters interfere with the other phones?
A: This is not a problem as each phone and its respective transmitters have individual programmed frequencies. We can supply phones with different frequencies to avoid interference from other transmitters within or near the same location.
